The winter season has begun! Is your car ready to drive the icy roads? Here are three simple tips that could make a world of difference this season:
Do you live in an area where you’re subject to snow and icy conditions? One of the best ways to prepare for this type of weather is purchasing a set of winter tires. They each have a wider wheel design so tires can retain traction in the snow. The grooves of the tires are also wider, which helps the water and snow pass through them with more ease.
If your windshield is still hard to see through after you turn on your wipers then it’s time to invest in a new set. Visibility is incredibly important under winter conditions and you’ll have to depend on your wipers more. Another way to help is making sure your wiper reservoir is full- there are winter formulas available that can defrost your windshield.
Every car should be stocked with a first aid kit, but here are a few more items to keep in your car that could save you. Aside from a portion of food and water, store an extra pair of warm clothes (i.e. a jacket, socks, boots, and hat) in your car in case you ever find yourself in unexpected weather. If you should ever find yourself snowed into your car keep a candle and lighter stored because the heat that this gives off can keep away hypothermia.
